Sociological Mindfulness
I see myself fitting into the big picture of society because
in my opinion, sociological mindfulness is putting yourself in other people’s
shoes. Growing up I was taught to always be nice to people because you don’t know
what they’re going through. I think that’s why I’m able to put myself in other
people’s shoes because I’m able to understand what other people are going
through. An example of this is a friend of mine was acting different. They weren’t
as talkative and as energetic as they normally were. At first I figured they
might not be feeling good because normally that’s how I would act, but I still
kept in mind. About a week later, they were still acting the same and I thought
to myself, “I wonder what’s going on?” So I thought, maybe they don’t want to
talk about it because its personal or they act like everything is okay. Then I put
myself in their shoes. If I had something going on with my family I thought
that talking about it would be good and make me feel a little better. So I approached
them when nobody was really around and I asked “hey, is everything okay, you’re
not acting like you normally do.” And at first they were very hesitant about
saying it and then finally opened up and told me that some issues had been
going on with their parents. I didn’t ask for a in depth story about what was
going on, because I knew that it would just make them think about it more. Because
that’s what I would do, so I asked “are you okay? Do you need anything? Do you
want to stay at my house or hangout?” As I said that they went from acting down
and upset to smiley and happy. It really changed the way at how I look at
things because if I was ever in a situation like that, I would want one of my
friends to do the same.
I think that Jesus Christ should be added to the list
because he has been on of the biggest influential people in the world forever.
He has influenced so many people to do great things and really made people believe
in themselves.
So aside from empathy how else do you see yourself in the big picture of things?
ReplyDeleteI see myself in the bigger picture because i can put myself in other peoples shoes, and i think that being able to do that is a good trait. Being able to put yourself in other peoples shoes makes you understand how not only your friends and family feel but also other people around the world.
