What are the groups and what functions do they serve?

The groups are in Freaks and Geeks are the freaks and geeks, or the nerds and the bad kids. The nerds are the kids that are smart, and the bad kids are the bullies and the kids that are druggies.

Are there negative influences from any of the groups (dysfunctions)?

Yes, when Lindsey started skipping school.

Who has power in the episode? How or why do they have power? How do they use it?

The guidance counselor, they have power because Lindsey has to listen to him so that he doesn’t tell her parents. He uses it so she has to work at the punch stand at the dance.

What are the important symbols in the episode? How do the characters act based on the symbols they find important?

The grandma’s coat is an important symbol, Lindsey reacts sadly because her grandma died but it also helps that she has the coat.

Can you relate any of these theories to your own life? How can the things you do be interpreted through one of these theories?

I can relate to symbolic interactionism because when I was younger my grandpa gave me a knife that he used to use hunting, and every time I look at it, it reminds me of how strong he was and it helps me because I want to be like him.
